About Gran

Rose James (Gran) was born on 30th July 1892 in St Ishmaels, South Wales. She lived in Milford Haven for most of her life and was married to Bob Lyons ‘Daddy’ who died from an illness which originated from an accident on a trawler. When ‘Daddy’ died, she later married Dew Beamish, who was lost at sea on a trawler around the 2nd April 1950 with all hands on deck. Gran had six children; Olive (1917), Fred (1920), Patsy (1922), Nora (1924), Thelma (1929) and Janet (1935). Gran died when she was 84 in Stoughton in West Sussex on 4th February 1978. She is buried in Milford Haven Cemetery in the same grave as Daddy and Fred. Because it is a war grave, the headstone only has Fred’s name on it.
